Something Old, Something New: Building and Preserving History at SDSU - The Yellow & Blue Podcast S1E4

South Dakota State University’s campus is 387 acres, and is home to more than 160 buildings. It’s a place where thousands of faculty, staff and students live, work and learn every day. For Facilities and Services, SDState operates like “a city within a city.” Dozens of workers spend countless hours cleaning, servicing and maintaining campus and its operations. 
 
Campus has evolved throughout time and has grown considerably in recent history. According to Facilities and Services, since 2010, 30 buildings have been constructed, enhancing the student experience. New residence halls, academic buildings, athletic facilities and agriculture structures are now an integral part of the SDSU experience.
 
Facilities and Services has also been able to oversee the renovation or revitalization of some of our more historic campus buildings. Recent projects include iconic structures like Lincoln Hall, First Bank and Trust Arena and the Coughlin Campanile. 
 
In this episode of “The Yellow & Blue Podcast,” Dave Law, director of project management and engineering for Facilities and Services takes us through campus operations and recent building projects. We also dive into some of the history of our favorite buildings at SDState.

SDSU President Barry Dunn - The Yellow & Blue Podcast S1E3

In the heart of the Midwest, South Dakota State University is guided by the leadership of President Barry Dunn. He brings expertise from his time as a farmer, rancher, researcher and academic to the state’s land-grant university.
In his pocket he carries a key to the King Ranch, kept from his time as executive director of the King Ranch Institute for Range Management. It reminds him of his livestock roots.
His passion for #SDState runs deep, earning three degrees from our university and holding several positions as faculty, director of SDSU Extension and the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council Endowed Dean of the College of Agriculture and Biological Sciences.
He has a steadfast commitment to students and their success. One of his greatest accolades is providing the vision for the Wokini Initiative, a mission close to him as an enrolled tribal member of the Sicangu Lakota.
Since 2016, he has served his alma mater through one of his greatest contributions, being president. Follow along as we take you through his life legacy and on the path to becoming president.

Garret Greenfield - The Yellow & Blue Podcast S1E1

Garret Greenfield is a former left tackle for the SDSU football team. Now, he's taking his passion for the sport to the next level, looking to become drafted into the National Football League. He's spent the last six years building up his résumé, including team captain, two-time FCS National Champion and advertising graduate. He received invites to the East-West Shrine Bowl and the 2024 NFL Combine, where he posted a record vertical jump amongst offensive linemen.
